Autopilot for Delphi – License

These are the licence terms of Autopilot for Delphi version 3. The same text is the file LICENSE in the package you get when you buy a seat.

License summary

This software has ONE license, the SciVance Software License (3.4), reproduced below. You may use the software only while you hold a seat under it.

ONE PAID SEAT PER DEVELOPER. Every seat is bought from the licensor. A seat is perpetual for the major version you buy: a seat for version 3 covers every 3.x release, for life, and a later major version is a new purchase. A seat covers any use, commercial or noncommercial, by an individual, a business, a government institution, a charity, a school or university, or any other organization. A team buys one seat for each of its developers. Price and how to buy: https://www.GabrielMoraru.com/autopilot

NO REDISTRIBUTION. You may not give the software to anyone else, in any form – not even built into your application, unless the conditions below are met.

TESTING INSIDE YOUR COMPANY. You may give the test application you built with the software, and the AUTOPILOT build of your own application, to a colleague in your company who holds a seat of their own, for testing only. A build server or test machine that you control may build and run them under your seat.

A seat holder gets the source code of the bridge units and of the test client, to read and to build into their own applications. The software is still not open source: the license below requires a seat and forbids redistribution, and an OSI-approved open-source license cannot do either.

This summary is not part of the license. Where it differs from the terms below, the terms below apply.

SciVance Software License

Acceptance

In order to get any license under these terms, you must agree to them as both strict obligations and conditions to all your licenses.

Seats

You may use the software only while you hold a seat. Each seat covers one individual developer.

A seat is bought from the licensor. It covers any purpose, commercial or noncommercial.

A seat covers the major version of the software it was bought for, including every later release of that major version (for example 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2), with no time limit. It does not cover a later major version of the software (for example 4.0); that needs a new seat.

The licensor grants you a copyright license for the software to do everything you might do with the software that would otherwise infringe the licensor’s copyright in it for any purpose. However, you may only distribute the software according to Distribution and make changes or new works based on the software according to Changes and New Works License.

Distribution

You may not give the software to anyone else. You have no license to distribute, publish, sell, lend, mirror, host, or otherwise make the software available to any other person, in any form. This covers the source code, the compiled unit files (.dcu), the executable files, packages, archives, copies of the repository, uploads to a package registry or file-sharing service, and inclusion in any library, component set, template, sample project, course material, training data set, or software development kit. It covers a changed or derived version of the software exactly as it covers the original.

This also covers an application of your own into which the software is built: you may build and run it for your own use, but you may not give it to any other person, including customers, unless you hold a separate distribution license bought from the licensor. A seat does not include a distribution license.

Two narrow permissions, and nothing beyond them:

1. Your own application with the bridge inactive

You may give other people an application of your own that you built without the AUTOPILOT conditional define. In such a build the bridge is inactive: it opens no connection and accepts no commands. This permission does not cover any build made with the AUTOPILOT conditional define. Conditions:

  1. You distribute the application in compiled form – an executable, an installer, a mobile application package, or similar.
  2. What you distribute does not contain the source code of the software, its .dcu files, or any other form from which a person could recover the software as a unit reusable in their own projects.
  3. Your own use of the software is covered by a seat.

You owe no credit, notice, or attribution inside your application for this permission.

2. Testing inside your company

This permission is an exception to the rule above that you may not give an application of your own into which the software is built to any other person.

You may give another individual in your company who holds a seat of their own, for testing only:

  1. a test application of your own that you built with the test client of the software (Autopilot.Client.pas), and
  2. a build of your own application that you made with the AUTOPILOT conditional define.

A build server or test machine that you control may build and run these applications under your seat. Conditions:

  1. You give these applications in compiled form only. What you give does not contain the source code of the software, its .dcu files, or any other form from which a person could recover the software as a unit reusable in their own projects.
  2. These applications are used only to test your own application.
  3. Your own use of the software is covered by a seat.

This permission does not cover giving these applications to anyone outside your company, or to anyone who does not hold a seat of their own.

No Reverse Engineering

You may not decompile, disassemble, or otherwise reverse engineer the executable files of the software, and you may not try to rebuild their source code, in whole or in part. You may not ask or allow anyone else to do it for you.

AI Agents and Automated Tools

Anything an AI agent, AI model, or other automated tool does with the software on your behalf or at your direction counts as done by you, and these terms apply to it exactly as they apply to you. You may not use such a tool to do anything these terms forbid you to do yourself, including reverse engineering the executable files or publishing any part of the software.

Notices

Where a permission above lets you pass on a copy of any part of the software, you must ensure that whoever gets that copy also gets a copy of these terms or the URL for them above.

Changes and New Works License

The licensor grants you an additional copyright license to make changes and new works based on the source code of the software for any purpose. This is for your own use. It does not cover the executable files: you may not change them. Distribution applies to anything you change or derive exactly as it applies to the original, so a changed version does not become yours to hand out.

Patent License

The licensor grants you a patent license for the software that covers patent claims the licensor can license, or becomes able to license, that you would infringe by using the software.

No Other Rights

These terms do not allow you to sublicense or transfer any of your licenses to anyone else, or prevent the licensor from granting licenses to anyone else. These terms do not imply any other licenses.

Patent Defense

If you make any written claim that the software infringes or contributes to infringement of any patent, your patent license for the software granted under these terms ends immediately. If your company makes such a claim, your patent license ends immediately for work on behalf of your company.

Violations

The first time you are notified in writing that you have violated any of these terms, or done anything with the software not covered by your licenses, your licenses can nonetheless continue if you come into full compliance with these terms, and take practical steps to correct past violations, within 7 days of receiving notice. Otherwise, all your licenses end immediately.

No Liability

As far as the law allows, the software comes as is, without any warranty or condition, and the licensor will not be liable to you for any damages arising out of these terms or the use or nature of the software, under any kind of legal claim.

Definitions

The licensor is the individual or entity offering these terms.

The software is the software the licensor makes available under these terms, in every form the licensor makes it available – source code, compiled unit files (.dcu), executable files (including Autopilot.Mcp.exe), packages, and documentation – together with any changed or derived version of any part of it.

You refers to the individual or entity agreeing to these terms.

Your company is any legal entity, sole proprietorship, or other kind of organization that you work for, plus all organizations that have control over, are under the control of, or are under common control with that organization. Control means ownership of substantially all the assets of an entity, or the power to direct its management and policies by vote, contract, or otherwise. Control can be direct or indirect.

Your licenses are all the licenses granted to you for the software under these terms.

Use means anything you do with the software requiring one of your licenses.
